the truth is you will never
be the same again
and you cannot even comprehend  
who that person was

how they could think what they did
or act the way they acted,
opinions so innocently or ignorantly
formed

but life and tragedy interrupted, 
and now you must grieve 
the legion of losses
of who you were
(and this is no small thing)

before you can even begin 
to consider embracing the ‘you’ 
that you are becoming

--but from what i can see
that person is spectacular
