About me

hope-filled poet

I have always loved the way that putting words together can paint a picture or express the deep things of the heart. We are all a collection of words and stories that impact who we are as an individual and the deep values that guide us. Words can tear us apart, but words are also a powerful tool of healing. And we all have stories aching to be told….

Writing fuels me and I have found that poetry especially can unlock the soul of the writer and the reader in a way that is nothing short of therapeutic as we observe both the beauty and the pain of our own lives and the world around. As a professional counsellor, much of my writing comes not only from themes in my own life but reflects my passion for mental-wellness, healing and hope.

I was raised in the USA but have been gone as an adult for more years than I was there. I spent many years in Fiji where most of my four grown children were born. I also met in Fiji the man that later took me on as a widow with four children and continued to raise them as his own (yeah, I’m a fan). We all lived in India for several years where we worked alongside survivors of trafficking. Now we are all scattered around New Zealand where my husband is from–and have become Kiwis ourselves!
